History
Grupo DISCO is formed in the years 1989/1991 as a result of the creation by Accesorios Frigorificos, S.A. (AFRISA) of several companies with the intention of developing an Iberian group for the distribution of technical products to the industrial and commercial refrigeration and air conditioning markets.
Accesorios Frigoríficos, S.A (Afrisa) was founded in 1962 as a company commercialising products and components for refrigeration. In 1974 it signed several agreements with Copeland for the exclusive distribution of its products in Spain, later extended to Portugal. Copeland is the world leader in manufacturing compressors for refrigeration and air conditioning.
As a result of this deal, it became necessary to create another structure, Compactos Frigoríficos, for the assembly of condensing units.
In 1988, due to the renegotiation of the distribution agreements with Copeland , Afrisa became the distributor of the most prestigious products in those markets. Later on, further agreements were reached with Latorre, S.L. and Comercial P. Valls in order to join Grupo DISCO. Furthermore, previous and simultaneously, the distribution companies DISCO Madrid, DISCO Málaga and DISCO Lisboa were created.
In the year 2003, in order to improve the logistics management and optimize the service quality to its delegations and its clients, Afrisa moved to new facilities in Torrejón de Ardoz (Headquarters), with a total surface of 8600 m2, of which 6000 m2 are warehouses and 2600 m2 are offices, including a DISCO shop, showrooms and conference rooms for staff training and product promotions for clients.
Nowadays, after a long process of mergers and acquisitions, Afrisa has 17 sales points in: Madrid, Torrejón de Ardoz, Getafe, Sevilla, Málaga, Córdoba, Valladolid, Vigo, A Coruña, Palma de Mallorca, Zaragoza, Gijón, Bilbao, San Sebastián, Albacete, Barcelona y Tarragona.
